6 steps to build a strong personal brand you’re comfortable with

WATCH THIS EPISODE OF MWAH TV ABOUT 6 STEPS TO BUILD A STRONG PERSONAL BRAND

In this episode of Mwah TV, I’m sharing the 6 steps to build a strong personal brand. I use this on repeat for a lot of my clients who want to ensure that their personal brand is strong and original. I’m going to walk you through how I use this in my business to give you some working examples.

If you stick around to the end I’ve made you a template to use to make your own strong personal brand.

6 Ways to build a really strong #personalbrand PLUS a bonus Template! 🎁 @lpearmanphotos Click To Tweet

My method is to always begin with the 5 themes of you. These are themes that you can use to create personal story lines that enhance your overall business message.

The rule is that they have to be 100% honest and truly about you. Fake this bit and the cracks in your personal brand show pretty quick.

The beauty of having 5 different themes is to keep your audience entertained and to keep the part of yourself that you don’t want the world to know about guarded and protected.

6 STEPS TO BUILD A STRONG PERSONAL BRAND WHEN IT FEELS UNCOMFORTABLE

This is where a lot of people feel uncomfortable about being personal. They think that they have to share all of their life all of the time.  Not only is that exhausting to you, but it can also open unplanned cans of PR worms that may damage the strength of your personal brand.

MY FIRST THEME IS SUKI THE CAT

If you join me on INSTA, you will see Suki is a regular feature.

She is The WORST employee with tonnes of sass & shade.

THEME 2 IS COCKTAILS

I love cocktails its true. But this represents more. It’s about finding the colour in life. My endless quest for new fusion as a fundamental in how I prefer to be creative.

THEME 3 IS LIVING THE VINTAGE LIFE

I’m an old soul. I’m enchanted with old school glamour. Whether it be the way I dress, using an old wives’ trick in my household or upcycling something old into something fabulous.

I’m always going to go for a vintage approach.

THEME 4 IS TRAVEL & ADVENTURE

In 2004 and again in 2007, I did the backpacker thing. It changed my life and understanding of the world significantly.

Now as a proper grown-up I’m still seeking the pleasure of wanderlust but with a proper bed & bathroom.

THEME 5 IS THAT I'M A PROUD FEMINIST

It's incredibly important to me to play my part in educating our younger generations about the innate power female have and how establishing a fairer more balanced way of how we do things is going to be better for all of mankind in the future.

THE BONUS DOWNLOAD TO HELP YOU TO BUILD A STRONG PERSONAL BRAND

If you want my help to plot out your 5 Themes, you can take a copy of my download here. This is the exact same process I do for my clients when we are planning an amazing photoshoot or they've asked me to dial up the creativity in their content.

HOW TO USE THEM TO BUILD A STRONG PERSONAL BRAND

Using these 5 themes on a continual basis in my business communications means that over time I can get into a lot of detail about them with my followers.

Sharing my thoughts and feeling about each of these 5 themes is a great way to add a more personal angle when I’m doing promotional campaigns in my business. It also opens up a lot of scope to news jack: Jumping in with my tuppence worth when a world event occurs outside of branding creative and photography.

This is exactly why all of my themes are about my life and not what I do as a brand photographer and creative strategist.

WHAT I WON'T SHARE

I’m not comfortable with talking to the world about my relationship, I find the majority of political issues and how quickly they can escalate online to be far too risky to use in my personal brand. So, it’s 100% off the table.

BATCH CREATION

When I’m batch creating content on my main social media platform Instagram, I have these 5 themes fully mapped out.  Every year I update how these themes have changed for me so that I can plan ahead and keep it authentic. Make sure to download your copy of the template and let’s get your brand strength flexing together! Don’t forget to leave out your profession from your themes.  They should always come in secondary to these aspects of your personal brand.
