Ways To Make Creating Video Oh-So-Much Easier

I cannot live without so many clever pieces of software to run my business and make my life run with simplicity.

Here are some quick-links for you to take a look at what I use in my business.  I only share links to the things I have tried and tested and then implemented into the way we do things here at Peary HQ. Full disclosure, these links are affiliate links.

What you see here are my most favourite pieces of software.  I can wholeheartedly recommend them all.

For a superior sound that is stylish

Desktop Broadcast & Recording Condenser Microphone

I have to confess I bought this purely based on style! I thought it would be cute to have a brand-matching microphone.

It took me a bit of time to buy the right compatible cables and sound interface to get this working but I am over the moon with the final result of sound. If I could go back in time I would have bought the full sound recording kit in a bulk buy.

For better Zooms & beginner YouTube's

There is a reason this webcam is a real favourite among content creators. Whilst I don't find the sound to be overly reliable, I do think that the quality of the image it creates is incredible.

All the editing

15" Core i7 2.5GHz Retina

Such an incredible laptop for so many reasons. I prefer to shoot all video directly into my laptop to cut out the drawn-out transfer of files via memory card. This laptop can handle this process with ease.

Superior sound capture

This is the cable I use with my condenser microphone & preamplifier.

UM2 48kHz 2-channel USB Audio Interface with XENYX Mic Preamplifier

I use this clever gadget to process the sound from my condensor microphone.

Superior sound - in the right place

Suspension Boom Scissor Arm Stand with Microphone Clip Holder

This is how to stop that annoying echo effect that happens when recording sound with a microphone sitting on your desktop. I like to have my desk as free from clutter as possible.

I love that I can swing in a microphone when I need it and simply push it out of my way when I dont.

I personally feel that having this up and off from my desktop results in a better quality of sound. You don't pick up any knocks on the desk that can affect a recording.

For those annoying editing replays

Sephia SP1050 Noise Isolating in-ear Earphones Headphones

I need to check sound quality when I'm out on location recording a quick testimonial after I've shot a headshots session. I'm often in a loud place, or we have a noisy crew on set. I can keep this nifty lil pack in my kitbag and pull it out to check sound recording levels are right on a microphone with a great cancelling out effect of the rest of the noise on set.

This is perfect and I really love the cute little bag. I also have tiny ear-holes. The selection of attachments to get 100% noise-cancelling were perfect for me!

Steady Film-making Video on location with your phone

Zhiyun Smooth 4 3 Axis Axis Handheld Gimbal Stabilizer

I got this to help me capture smooth video footage with my phone whilst out on photography sessions. This makes it really easy to pass over to a crew member to catch me capturing the session.

Budget-Friendly LAV sound

Purple Panda Lavalier Lapel Microphone Kit

When my BOYA Lav Mic died on me (without warning) I was on the hunt for something that just plugged straight in. Whilst this doesn't come with an adaptor to plug directly into my laptop (link to that in this kit folder too) I still really like the quality of sound and the array of adaptors that came as standard.

For 2 person interviewing

COMICA CVM-D02 Dual-Head Lavalier Lapel Microphone

Perfect for a quick post-shoot interview with my clients which usually happens down the pub.

Continuous lighting on a budget

Neewer Dimmable 176 LED Video Light 5600K on Camera Light Panel

When it comes to lighting video having something that is easy to gel and dial-up and down according to daylight is key. I have a few of these nifty lighting blocks. With the adapter I can switch out my flash heads with my photography lighting stands with ease.

Modify photography kit to videography kit

TARION H-Shape 2-Part Swivel Tilt

I'm a BIG believer in getting the most out of the kit you already have. With a collection of solid lighting stands, its better value (and better for the environment) to get familiar with the right adaptors. I have these to go on my flash head lighting stands to hold my LED continuous lighting I use for filming.

Headphones + Lav mic in a macbook

Headphone Jack Splitter

After trying TONNES of different headphone jack splitters to be able to record sound directly onto my MacBook pro this was the only one to work.

Superior Film Making

Canon EOS 5D Mark III

I recently made the switch back to using my DSLR for Mwah TV. This was purely for an aesthetic level-up to improve the quality of the look of my show.

For the reliable stabilization

Canon EF 17-40 mm f/4.0

Such a reliable all-rounder as a lens. Perfect zoom and stabilization for shooting video

Remember your words without a printer

Inmei X1 Teleprompter

This fits so well on my DSLR when filming. Cuts out all that time to print out my scripts for Mwah TV.

Audio Video HDMI Capture Card

Buqiuy USB 3.0 Audio Video Capture Card

I use this to tether my DSLR to my laptop with an HDMI cable. This makes it much easier to capture good quality sound.

HDMI capture direct to macbook

High Speed Mini HDMI Cable

The HDMI cable I use to tether my video recording to the laptop.

Lightweight tripod

Portable Tripod K&F Concept 70"/17

Nicely lightweight tripod with the security of proper support at a wide range of heights.

The first place I go to when hunting for new equipment is Warehouse Express, a really friendly company based in Norwich. They have such a nice team, they do trade in's and you can buy a wealth of good quality second hand too.

This takes you to my Mention Me account with WEX so you can get £20 off your next order.
